McCulloch CS 42S Review

The McCulloch CS42S Petrol Chainsaw is a powerful garden chainsaw with an ultra-lightweight (4.9kg) design and numerous innovative features. It has a 16 inch bar and a rapid cutting speed of 20 metres per second. At its heart is a powerful 42cc petrol engine which outputs 1500W of power. The engine features OxyPower technology which reduces fuel consumption and significantly reduces emissions (as detailed below).

We briefly look at the chainsaw's features before describing them in detail later on. It's designed to be comfortable to use, as evidenced by its soft-grip handles and anti-vibration design. It also has a safe design which includes a high performance safety brake in the event of kickback. We like the air filter which acts as a centrifuge to remove large particles of dust and debris.

• Petrol Engine - The chainsaw has a 42cc petrol engine which outputs 1500W of power. It uses OxyPower technology which reduces emissions by up to 70% and fuel consumption by up to 20%. It can easily be started thanks to soft-start technology (which reduces start up cord resistance by up to 40%). It also has combined choke/stop controls. The oil tank has a 200ml capacity.
• Soft-Grip Handles / Anti-Vibration - The chainsaw has soft-grip handles which, together with its anti-vibration system, makes the chainsaw comfortable to use for long periods of time.
• Safe Design - The McCulloch CS42S Petrol Chainsaw is designed with safety in mind. It has a chain brake lever which is easily activated in case of kickback. The brake is also activated by inertia to protect you from injury.
